The Shevchenko Museum possesses an impressive collection of fine art by Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Canadian artists. The initial collection began with 30 original oil paintings by contemporary Ukrainian artists, donated in the 1980s, by the Shevchenko National Museum in Kyiv. Among them are canvases by Mykhailo Varennya, Fedir Konovalyuk, Volodymyr Krasiokha, Mykola Malynka, Josyp Kravets, Vladimir Kharchenko, Kateryna Pysmenna, Hryhoriy Matsehora, Oleksandr Khumenko, S. Sandiuk, Yurij Buchma, and other prominent artists.

Additionally, a valuable collection of Ukrainian fine art was donated to the museum by Anna and Mykhailo Torchenko of New York City, USA. Five paintings by Mykola Hluschenko constitute a part of this collection. Over the years, the collection has been expanded by the works of Vasyl Kasian, Volodymyr Ovsak, Oryst Sawchuk, Jeanette Lodoen, Gilbert Heath, Pavlo Lopata, Larissa Soushko, Andrij Sinitar, Oleh Nedoshytko, Victor Orly, Nell LaMarsh, Marian Varkholik, and many more. The graphic collection is represented by artists such as Mykhailo Derehus, Viktor Zaritsky, Vasyl  Lopata, Yaroslav Nechaj, Yurij Rubanov, and V. Ostafijchuk. 

In 2018, the Museum received 49 oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, graphics, and works of mixed-media generously donated by more than 40 contemporary artists from almost every region of Ukraine.
